Have quilt, will travel…

Submitting an entry into a quilt show is scary. Ask me how I know? If you don’t like rejection then it is very scary! But not all entries get rejected and sometimes you might not only be accepted but win a ribbon… even if it is 3rd place (you naysayers know who you are). If it is a 3rd place ribbon in an AQS show then there is the added thrill of your quilt appearing in a magazine…

And here it is. Note 20 prize winning quilts from Des Moines?

After a brief search through the pages, there you are in the bottom right hand corner of the page, in full techno-color glory.

And, just in case you can’t enjoy all the details…!!

Fun and fame, all in one magazine? And, I did hear from Road to California last week and they have accepted Imperial Blooms into their contest in January.

“Well done little quilt, well done”.

This morning I sent off another contest application… three quilts for QuiltCon. I have no idea what is expected. I enlisted Julia’s help to resample my photographs at 1800 pixels on the longest side… Quilt Expo in Madison wanted printed pics, AQS wanted a cd, Road2Ca wanted straightforward high quality JPEGs… just entering these shows is an education in itself… Anyway I managed to fill in all the paperwork and pay so that is the first hurdle. I’m getting myself ready to cope with rejection…

Last night was Naperville Modern Quilt Guild. We had a slide show of the Modern Quilt Guild’s Houston exhibit and then the usual show and tell.

Here is a bright and cheerful quilt top made for a very lucky baby. Lots of people weighed in with their quilting ideas!

Then this one is all ready, quilted, bound and washed, for a fortunate father-in-law. I am liking that green and grey combination.

I have been occupied basting lots of very colorful hexagons to make my next quilt… when I am not at my machine quilting my African Folklore Embroidery quilt.

It’s keeping me out of mischief but not too busy to appreciate a beautiful bouquet of flowers I received last week.

There’s not a lot of color outside right now. The cold weather is making me very glad I have a few trips planned for early next year!
