Good weather… to stay home!

Winter has arrived in Illinois. I guess it was inevitable but I still don’t like it very much!

That being said, it does makes it seem to be a very good idea to stay home and make some progress on some of my stitching projects.

Yesterday I pulled out my scrap bag and by the end of the day… ta da!

A crazy pieced friendship star on that wonderful mustard background. I’m nearly out of the yardage I bought when Pieceful Heart closed but I’ve got lots of that pinky purply color! Any suggestions for a proper name for that particular Kona solid? Lots of contrasting serpentine machine stitching in the mustard and straight lines on the strip.

Here’s a close up of the star itself.

I have named the quilt Chosen Three because once again I have used the rejects to make a finished piece. It seems particularly apt for a friendship star… we might not get to choose our relatives but we do choose our friends.

(In case anyone questions that last sentence, I am very happy with my relatives but I know others aren’t always so lucky.)

Meanwhile outside we were building up to this.

Looks lovely in the morning sun but it is cold outside!

I’m going to be working on another quilt today.

What energy you have! Lovely star quilt. I sure do enjoy looking at your snow…no snow here at the moment in Southern Indiana but kids in Indy got 5″…tis the season I guess.

I would be making the most of your snowless-ness if I was you… It’ll catch up with you quite soon enough.

Your weather looks like it did here on Sunday. Our first real snow. Then it started to warm up, and by Monday evening, it was all gone. Not that I mind.

Color: Newtonian Red-Violet (Sir Isaac Newton invented red violet to make a straight line spectrum into a color wheel.)

That sounds like a grand name for my pinky purple! Newtonian Red-Violet it is.
