Fusing Fun at PHF

I’ve been teaching a Fuse Like McKenna class at Pieceful Heart Fabrics once a quarter since 2008. We’ve modified it to include any fused pattern these days so I never quite know what to expect but that’s what makes it fun!

Last Saturday found an eager crew ready to get to grips with fusible art quilts… After a brief overview of the joys of using WonderUnder everyone got started on their projects.

Fabrics needed identifying and labeling,

before tracing could begin.

After fusing the traced elements onto the right fabrics the pieces could be cut out. Some people had small pieces to be carefully cut around,

others had some nice large bits!

Once all the pieces for one unit were ready they could be assembled. Two raccoons came to life on this pressing sheet.

Two people were working on McKenna Ryan kits, two more had Bigfork Bay Cotton Company kits while one student managed to prepare the pieces for three of the Nancy Halvoresen Count On It mini-quilts.

Everyone made a great start on their pictures. We ended with a discussion of finishing techniques and a fused binding demo. I am looking forward to receiving photos of the completed art works!!
