From Machine Quilting to Wool Applique…

I never did get to McHenry last Thursday. They had seven inches of snow in between noon and midnight in McHenry County so we rescheduled for May. Is that tornado season?

However the weather has settled down again now. A full class convened on Saturday morning at Pieceful Heart Fabrics for a fun-filled Machine Quilting 1 class. Everyone played nicely together. We seamed, pressed, listened, marked, basted and finally we quilted… Stitches were made both in the ditch and not in the ditch…. straight lines and curved!!

The ladies were still smiling at the end of five hours.

Blue seemed the color of choice this quarter… although we did have one little green sample.

DSC02699There was a pink one too but it was already packed up and ready to go home when the camera emerged!

What next? This morning I am driving down to Dwight to pick up Sue Spargo who has been teaching in Bloomington and will be our guest at Riverwalk Quilters this week. She has been on the schedule for two years so we are all very excited. We have 25 signed up for Sue’s leaf sampler class on Tuesday and Wednesday.  I have done my homework and my selection of leaves are appliquéd to their wool background, all lined up and ready for embellishment.

I am looking forward to a good week. I hope I will have an embroidered, beaded and fully embellished piece to show before too long… more realistically I should have a few leaves done!
