Finished!

On Tuesday I put down the knitting needles for long enough to finish quilting my Wyndham Fabrics Gees Bend quilt… I love the way the wool batting makes the quilting stitches stand out. A narrow black binding put on by machine and a few minutes in the dryer with some damp washing and it’s done.

Here it is outside, hanging over the rail of the deck…

and a close up of some of the quilting…

It was a beautiful day for taking pictures in the yard so I took some of the baby quilt I made last month from some Moda charm squares and the “honey bun” I bought in Paducah last year…

and then the Quilted Daydreams panel designed by Stephanie Brandenburg for Camelot Cottons…

I had spent a happy few hours quilting the day lily!

The Gees Bend kit and the flower panel cane from Acorn Quilts in Rockford. I went back there on Wednesday for a little “show and tell”. It is such a pretty shop, the stock is all beautifully displayed. It was hard to come away with only one piece of fabric… I’m ready for  my next project…

On Friday I joined Carolyn, Cindy and Carol for a trip to Bloomington Normal. We boosted the local economy shopping for fabric in three very different stores. First on the list came the Treadle… where the fabric almost literally spills out the door… then the bargain warehouse environment of Bolines out by the airport and finally the Sewing Studio… a regular full service fabric store and Bernina dealer.

Here we are just before getting back in Carolyn’s car for the drive home…

A MacDonald’s ice cream cone and a little nap later (for me, not Carolyn who was driving) we were home. I do like a good road trip!
