Every celebration needs a cake.

Steve and I celebrated our thirty fifth wedding anniversary on July 19th. That was the day after I got back from Santa Rosa and the same day as an Artists’ Reception at the Bloomingdale Park District Museum where our PAQA Art of the Midwest Exhibit was on display. (Cheryl was there too!)

So you’ll understand why I told our family we were too busy to see them…

We’re going to have a whole family party in August when everyone can get here, but any day is a great day for a celebration so we were very happy to welcome some little visitors and their parents this last weekend.

Here are Ruby and Grandpa waiting for dinner  on Saturday night. Matt was in charge of cooking chicken and potatoes on the grill.

Cool James and Aunty Sarah came over for lunch on Sunday. It was very warm so we moved inside to eat. Every celebration needs a cake… Benjamin waited patiently for me to cut into the Salted-Caramel Six-Layer  Chocolate Cake I had made with a little help from Sarah and Julia on Saturday afternoon.
