Applique Fiber Class and other stuff

The days are rushing past and there isn’t enough time to quilt. I am enjoying the challenge that other responsibilities bring but I’ve got so many projects shouting at me from the basement…

On Wednesday we had the Applique Fiber Primer class at Pieceful Hearts Fabric. Everyone made a successful start to their machine appliqued picture using the Applique Fiber that Judy Rohret puts out for When Quilts Fly and one of her patterns. Students were delighted to find new uses for glue sticks and the utility stitches on their sewing machines.

Here they are hard at work…

No faces! But don’t people’s hands look good? Even the skinny stems are manageable with a stiletto and a little patience. Everyone was able to get the flower pot stitched so hopefully there will be some finished projects soon.

I just made a small sample.

It’s currently soaking in hot water and Synthrapol…

I’ll be able to rinse and dry it after I get back from my work out this afternoon. Then it will be ready to quilt and finish!

Well other than that exciting adventure, we had a good Reversible Quilts class last night. I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s blocks next week when we have the second part of the class. On Sunday we will be making Fabric Origami boxes. I came home yesterday with a pattern for Fabric Origami lilies so I am planning on trying those tonight. Too much fun!!

The class sounds and looks very interesting. But I’m really interested in the origami boxes. When I taught 4th graders, we did alot of paper origami. Their little fingers were perfect for it. Take care and enjoy the origami.
