African Folklore Chicken… finished

I made my African Folklore Embroidery chicken into a mini quilt yesterday.

The background is some of the Indian hand blocked batiks from last year’s Oregon road trip quilted with my walking foot and finished pillowcase style.

I mounted the embroidered chicken and sun on black wool felt to add dimension before stitching them on as separate elements.

The beautiful hand dyed threads from House of Embroidery make for a lovely finish.

I made this piece to give someone who told me they liked chickens but before I send it off it’s coming on a road trip to Pittsburgh with me…

Not quite going to see the king, Chicken Licken style,

rather Quilt Company East… !! always an adventure?

BTW If you want to make a chicken like mine the kit is available at the AFLE website.
